nfortunately,DR2D is not yet supported. The possible graphing types entail an assortment of pie charts, anumber of line and bar charts, along with needle, step, histogram, and textcharts. Error bars are available where appropriate and the user is givenconsiderable control over all aspects of graph layout and printing, viarequesters. It is quick and easy to experiment with different types ofcharts and attributes in order to obtain precisely the presentation onedesires. It should be understood that SSG does not supply the purchaser with adetailed statistics text or training. It assumes a working knowledge ofwhat procedures to do when and the interpretation and meaning of results. But even here users are not left completely on their own since a briefdescription of each procedure is presented, along with a short bibliographyof texts appropriate to teach the basics or refresh latent memories. Finally, in any program, no matter how well done, there is always roomfor further development. The anticipated enhancements noted in the manualwill remedy most of this reviewer's concerns or desired missing features. However, some other additions would be desirable, beyond those alreadysuggested. For example, it is not yet possible to automatically create amultivariate correlation matrix. And, another suggestion is for morescreen resolution options. Several are available for the output windows,but additional ones, such as 800 x 600 pixels, commonly used on 24-bit-6-display enhanced systems, is not currently supported. But these are reallybeing pretty persnickety, especially considering this is still version 1.0of the software. In the manual it states that because SSG is the labor of a singleindividual who must work at another job for a living, it's creator cannotoffer the level of customer support expected of commercial programs (e.g.telephone support). Dr. Stockman goes so far as to offer a refund to anyonewho purchased directly from him if this is a problem. However, I found thatany question I had was promptly answered by post and I suspect the responsewould have been quicker were I available online. Also, a program revisiondisk (vers. 1.0a) arrived unsolicited, within a couple weeks of theoriginal package. Some larger commercial concerns I have dealt with are notas responsive. Dr. Stockman writes in the manual that he spent three years working onSSG and it shows in all aspects of the package. It is gratifying to findsuch effort expended on a quality product for so limited a market segment.
